How does the referral tracking work?
Each referral recipient gets a unique ID generated from our
system. When user X refers friends Y and Z, Y gets a link to your
site that looks like this: mybuzzlink.com?ref=x&re=Y;
And Z gets link that looks like this:
mybuzzlink.com?ref=X&rec=Z
*(Please note, in real environments these are anonymous numeric
ID’s and not names).
As soon as referee clicks on the link, we set the cookie on referee's browser based on parameters in the url and we redirect user to your website. When the user lands on your website we already have cookie on that user's browser that has information about referrer.
On your order confirmation page, you render a pixel that sends us information about the referee. Note, on order confirmation page we are getting information about referee through the pixel parameters and in this same call that renders an invisible pixel we have referrer's information in the cookie. We match the referrer's information and give the credit to appropriate referrer.
